Fascinating Postcard Finds

Fossicking for postcards

Enjoyed rummaging through some old postcards in the bric-a-brac shops in the Blue Mountains today.

What was just as much fun was learning the history of each card when I got home and Googled.

See the Flickr album notes to learn my discoveries.

Sultanate of Oman

You beat me to it Lee Hock Peng

Oman, on the Arabian Peninsula, blends ancient traditions with modernity, offering a captivating mix of culture and landscapes. From the historic forts of Muscat to the towering dunes of the Wahiba Sands, Oman's diverse terrain invites exploration. Rich in history, hospitality, and natural beauty, it is a gem of the Middle East.

UPDATE: I did finally get to Oman (ten years after Lee Hock Peng) but sadly there was nowhere to post a postcard at the port of Khasab

Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah, Muscat
My Middle East expert colleague, Belinda 'Belle' Jackson, sent me this card depicting Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah in Muscat when she got home to Australia. Oman is lovely, but not postcard friendly, sadly.
Khasab Castle Oman
My card from the port of Khasab had to be posted from UAE.
