Greetings Postcard Pals. Below are some of the standout postcards I have received from my generous postcard friends.

I've also included some I've sent myself from significant or interesting locations or just bought for fun. All my postcards are uploaded to my Flickr.

You'll see I also enjoy fancy stamps too. Want to trade? Read on.

Vintage South Pacific Postcards

A FIJIAN "MARAMA"

Spending time indoors during COVID has given me the chance to rediscover the many hundreds of postcards my family have accumulated over the decades.

This small set of vintage cards were bought during our cruise aboard P&O's Himalaya in early 1972 to Noumea, Fiji and Auckland. My first cruise and the only time I travelled overseas with my father. It's fun to look back on these times.

Postcards in the time of #COVID19

In these depressing times of Coronavirus isolation, the art of postcard writing comes to the fore. My creative friends have found non-destination and inspirational cards that are perfect for these times.
Thank you to my thoughtful pals and colleagues for sending these smile (and giggle) inducing missives.

A mystery sender played on my love of motorcycle riding.

Tiana reminded me of my woeful love life :)

and this beautiful art card from Lee. Few know of my love for birds.

Yerevan, Armenia

Armenia: It's taken me a long time to get a card from this reclusive former Soviet nation-state with a most interesting history. Thank you Kerry van der Jagt

Nepal: Home of the living Goddess

IMG_20181227_0002
Nepal is an ancient Himalayan nation, unified in 1768 under the Shah dynasty. Once a Hindu monarchy, it abolished the crown in 2008 after civil conflict. Today Nepal is a federal democratic republic, with an elected parliament and prime minister, balancing tradition, development, and complex regional geopolitics and international diplomacy.

In September 2018, I visited Newfoundland and Labrador aboard Silversea 'Silver Cloud'. Some fabulous scenery and sights including UNESCO.
