Dubai UAE - Worlds Tallest

You can't go to Dubai without visiting the world's tallest building. I finally made it, and here is my postcard mailed as proof from the gift shop at the top. Plus, here are some other cards received and sent over the years.

Soviet era propaganda postcards

Who wouldn't be thrilled to find these postcards in a junk shop. But be assured, it wasn't sold at 'junk' price!

Here are a few cards - either original from the era  or reproduction - that I have assembled over the years. I just love them. 

Marshall Islands RMI

In 2016, I was fortunate enough to travel to the Marshall Islands on assignment for Pacific Island Living magazine. What a fascinating place with an intriguing history. Unfortunately, it is best known as the site of the postwar atomic tests carried out by the USA. What I did learn while I was there is that the locals firmly believe Amelia Earhart was transported to the Marshall Islands after crashing neat Jaluit and being captured by the Japanese. They even issued a stamp set to commemorate the event.

Republic of Palau

 Back in the news recently is the island nation of Palau thanks to Australia reactivating direct flights to the capital Koror (ROR) from Brisbane (BNE).

DPK North Korea

 

This is one very special card received from my dear globetrotting pal, Kris, in 2012. While I travelled to North Korea myself in 2003, I wasn't able to send a postcard.

Tanzania and Zanzibar

Not only did I manage to send some pretty cool postcards from Zanzibar, I also got an overdue lesson in geography.
